It is unfortunate when we lose touch with those we love.  We often hear stories about families whose members were once very close and yet have lost contact due to migrations to different cities or countries.  Long-distance phone calls are expensive and regular mail may be too slow.  This website is meant to keep the Goyeneches in contact regardless of where they live!

When we were all together, my family would hold big celebrations.  I can still recall trying to memorize the names of numerous uncles, aunts, grand-aunts, grand-uncles, a million cousins...These gatherings were wonderful!  Spontaneous dancing, singing, lots of catching up, joking around, card-playing, and other gregarious activities were the norm.  The kids always had a wonderful time during these celebrations and parents had a chance to showcase their children's talents to the applause of family members.

Many games were organized to keep everyone busy and happy.  When it came time to go home, it was customary for the host to send leftovers with the departing family members.  The members not only leave with food, but also leave with a feeling of belonging, one that is nurtured by such gatherings.

When people leave for another country, city, or island, connections with family start to fray.  It is my hope that this website will fuel the ongoing communications between family members to keep the ties alive.
